We are offering two levels of service - each will provide about twice as many numbers as searches, depending on the nature of the area. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict precisely how many numbers will be provided by a search. For example, it is generally easier to find more numbers in rural/ suburban areas as opposed to urban ones.
A search consists of a trawl through the database trying to match a surname with a valid address, and a number will be given if there is one available. A search could generate up to 200 numbers if it is searching across the constituency for a more popular surname, but it might generate no numbers if it is searching for an unusual surname and that one number is ex-directory. It is not possible to predict how many numbers it will find, but if you wish to prioritise an area then you can amend the district name so that it is higher up the alphabet.
The researched file is then run through TPS and returned to you for import using the TPS import facility in EARS using the 
icon .
Please note that a telephone number in your data will not be overwritten if there is no number with which to replace it. This is so that you do not lose the numbers you have added manually from surveys and other contact with voters.
